Running disk cleanup can free disk space. I have also found that running disk cleanup can also boost performance and reduce sluggishness.

Disk cleanup is not available in the apps list in Windows 8.1 but can be found in administrative tools.

Here are the steps on running Disk Cleanup on Windows 8.1
