Pressing Win Key+. or Win Key+; opens up a emoji panel 😀 in Windows 10.

Windows 10 Emoji Panel opens but does not insert into Notepad or other Windows applications

Straight after opening the emoji panel typing a word, such as rocket, will show the rocket emoji 🚀. Press enter and your emoji will insert into whereever the cursor position before you opened the emoji panel.

The problem was that the emoji panel opened up with no problems, but the emoji search was not working, and the emoji image was not inserting into the Window applications such as notepad. However, the emoji panel was working with Windows Search input box and the Search input box in Window Settings.

Solution

  1. Win Key+R
  2. Type services.msc and press enter
  3. Find Touch Keyboard and Handwriting Panel Service, and set the start up type to Automatic. If you can Start the service but this is not necessary.
  4. Restart the PC

Inserting emojis into any application now works using the Windows 10 emoji panel.
